For the Love
of Local Government

How Professional Management Can Save City Hall From Amateur Politics

For the Love of Local Government is a tough-love letter to the most personal and overlooked level of American government.

Witty, frank, and grounded in history, this book is for anyone who serves in, works for, or simply depends on local government—which is to say, everyone.

Book cover illustration depicting a town hall building, park trees, and an American flag. The colorful design highlights civic themes with a professional and welcoming tone.

Welcome, Fellow Civic Crusader

Bradley has spent his adult life in local government, beginning with two elected terms on his hometown borough council at age eighteen. He holds a Master of Public Administration from the Pennsylvania State University and has served as a borough manager, township manager, and county administrator for communities across Pennsylvania and Virginia.

A practitioner of the council-manager form, he spends his days aiding local governments that need a little TLC, chronicling life in public administration, and fighting for good government. He brings the rare perspective of both the elected official and the appointed professional to the case for competent local government.
